NOTE: This interview was previously recorded.

Stand back, everyone: you’re about to listen to an awesome interview.  It’s been 3 years since I last spoke to Darren Korb, and good lordy has he been up to some cool stuff.  Darren is audio director for Supergiant Games, and he and the SG team dropped Pyre last year.  Described as many things, including “fantasy, fantasy sports,” and “mystical NBA jam,” Pyre has snagged a 9.7/10 on IGN.com, and 9.0s on GameSpot and Polygon to name a few.  The soundtrack is also badass.  So, you know, thanks Darren.

Pick up that badass soundtrack here:

Seriously though, Darren was once again very gracious with his time and chatted with me for almost 40 minutes about his work on Pyre.  He gives fantastic insight that anyone at any level of their career could benefit from.  Listen on to hear us talk about:

  • How Darren expanded on stem-based music after Transistor to bring Pyre to life;
  • What Darren would do if he had to start over with $500 and a laptop;
  • And much more!

That’s it from me – listen to the full interview above, and don’t forget to catch Darren on Twitter at @DarrenKorb!

Oh, and play Pyre.
