Typically, when I interview someone for VGM Academy, I try to use clever or well-chosen questions to get the most useful nuggets of information to pass along to you: the VGM Academy community. This time, I was surprised and delighted that composer Wilbert Roget, II used his unique perspective to turn a couple of my questions on their heads and provide thoughtful insight into building relationships and working as a composer. We had a blast talking, and definitely went off on a couple of fun tangents during our 50 minute interview.

Will is best known for his work on Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Call of Duty: WWII, and his latest release: Mortal Kombat 11. Imagine that! Growing up playing Mortal Kombat – or any series, for that matter – and then having the privilege and skill to grow up and write the soundtrack for one of the games. It’s rare enough for a series to last that long, but to go from childhood player to writing the game’s score? Epic.

Will was also this past year’s keynote speaker at GameSoundCon, and will be joining us for a live interview at the upcoming virtual conference: VGM Academy LIVE! A 100% free, virtual conference for game music composers.  The conference is on April 30th-May 3rd, and you can catch Will’s session on Sunday, May 3rd.  To learn more about the conference, and register to get access to all content, click the button and SIGN UP:
