Hello again!

Dan here. If you’re new to the website, this may be a strange first post for you to read - and if you’ve been following VGM Academy for a while, you’re probably wondering where the hell I’ve been for the past several months. I want to take a few minutes of your time to explain why I, and VGM Academy, have gone practically radio-silent since August.

The long and short of it is that life got harder and busier all of a sudden, and the hits kept coming until just a few weeks ago. I’m hopefully presuming that 2018 will be better overall, because the last quarter or so of 2017 has kind of sucked. The short version is that there were several things (like multiple car accidents, pet hospital visits, illnesses that sweep the entire household one after the other, broken computers, and much more!), and an overall abundance of work/responsibilities that have made extra-curricular activities like running websites extremely difficult. I run VGM Academy for fun and because I care very much about helping the game audio community, but I had to put my very limited time and energy towards the more urgent areas of my life for awhile (like my health, my family, and my job that pays those pesky bills). But things are FINALLY stabilizing, and I can start picking up where we left off.

So, in summary: Good news! I’m not dead - and neither is VGM Academy.

BUT, during my unintended hiatus I have been thinking a lot about the VGM Academy community and how best to serve it going forward - as well as what my role in it all should look like. I’m still working on that if I’m being completely honest, but you can expect a slow resurgence over the next several weeks. I appreciate your patience, and apologize for the lack of communication and new content.

If you’re reading this, thanks so much for sticking with me thus far. I appreciate you, your attention, and your time.

-Dan Hulsman
